Coach Core Masterclass

HRH Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle spend quality time observing a masterclass for apprentices run by Create Development.

To celebrate National Apprentice Week and International Women’s Day, we were excited to deliver a Coach Core masterclass to 14 apprentices in Birmingham. There was a very special visit from HRH Prince Harry and Ms Meghan Markle who spent quality time observing the class and talking with the apprentices about their training, experience and qualification.

Director of Innovation, John Parsons and Tutor, Jason Elwell quickly got the group moving with Extreme Rock, Paper, Scissors and Team Juggle followed by a session focusing on the importance of putting the child before the sport.

What is Coach Core?

Coach Core is a programme run by the Royal Foundation of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry and was established in 2012. It is an apprenticeship programme improving the availability and quality of sports coaching, whilst creating much-needed employment for young people. Coach Core increases confidence and enables the young people to have more belief in their ability to achieve in the future.

Working in partnership

As Coach Core’s education partner, Create have worked with Coach Core since the start of their journey in 2012. We provide practical and engaging modules, resources and delivery to ensure that coaching is progressive, fun and centred on the learner.

It’s an honour to work with Coach Core and partners including Sport Birmingham and The Aston Villa Foundation and most importantly to be able to support the development of a great group of apprentices.
