It goes without saying that current events are tough on all of us, and children and young people are no exception. Uncertainty, confusion and anxiety over what’s going on, change of routine, separation from friends and wider family, limited opportunities to explore the world and even, sadly, loss of loved ones can have a huge effect on young minds. It’s vital that we’re looking after ourselves and our children through this strange time to ensure that they can be as healthy and happy as possible.
Teachers have never stopped inspiring me by their relentless dedication to their pupils. At a time none of us could have predicted, with no rule book on what to do next, these heroes have yet again blown me away with their approach and undefeated attitude.

I no longer buy into the outdated title ‘PE specialist’ nor the underlying assumptions regarding expertise that sit underneath it.
Specialist subject knowledge is simply not enough to provide the very best opportunities and physical activity experiences for every child. It is even worse to assume ‘sport’ knowledge counts as PE knowledge.
New research has found that 59 per cent of parents think screens are getting in the way of children being active, with one in five parents saying their children prefer playing E-sports to physical sports and a third saying that their children prefer playing online games to playing either indoors or outdoors.
